Proposal

"I want to be with you forever," those are the words Logan said to Melissa as he kneeled on the second floor terrace of The Oread hotel in Lawrence, Kan., right before he asked her to marry him. But like most important events, not everything worked out according to plan.

On the beautiful evening of Friday, April 29, 2011, Logan was walking Melissa from where he had parked on campus toward The Oread, a recently new establishment near the north end of the KU campus. Melissa was only told earlier that day that they were going to go somewhere "nice" never mentioning where he would be taking her to dine.

While checking in for their reservations, Logan told the hostess that they'd be going up to the ninth-floor terrace for a little while. The hostess, however, told them that it was closed due to strong wind, but that the fifth-floor terrace was still open. That was the first delay of Logan's plan, and although he was frustrated by this hiccup, the fifth-floor terrace would be fine. At least that's what he thought until they arrived.

It was a gorgeous day and he had underestimated the amount of people who would be coming to enjoy the evening. After pacing the terrace back and forth a couple of times he looked down and noticed that nobody was on the second-floor terrace - it would be perfect. By this time, Melissa was a little confused at why Logan wasn't acting like himself.

By the time they arrived down there, Melissa was all smiles because she finally realized what was going on. When he did propose, the sun was just about to set. Regardless of it not going according to his original plan, it couldn't have been more perfect.
