Cooking Madness

I've been slacking on my blog duties. Can you blame me though? After being on the computer all day long getting on the computer when I get home is kind of the last thing I want to do. I have to admit though, Logan and I have done a lot the past week.

We've kind of become addicted to our Kinect fitness game (maybe me a little more so), but we've had way too much fun on the partner games, and the seperate workouts we've both done lately are intense. Of course, they have easy ones too, but who doesn't love a challenge? I highly recommend it, it's called "Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2012." In fact, I think I'll challenge Logan to a game tonight.

Believe it or not, Logan and I are quite the chef's. Last night we concocted a delicous meal of vegetable asian stir fry (we kind of forgot to add the shrimp we bought for it, woops) with rice and comlete with baked crab ragoons. It was much healthier than eating at a chinese restaurant, but still quite delicious. In fact, we have enough leftovers to last us a good part of this week! The crab ragoons were a pinterest recipe, we had to travel around town to get the wonton wrappers for it, but we used delicious fresh crab meat, and although they weren't as sweet as the ones you'd buy while eating out, they were quite delicious (and much healthier).

It also seems like there is always something that goes haywire for us while cooking. Our first time making seared tilapia, the apartment alarms started going off! We were so involved in the cooking we hadn't noticed how incredibly smokey it had gotten - that was an adventure. Then last night at the last minute I realized we didn't have enough teriyaki sauce so Logan had to drive to the store to get more. And we always seem to have trouble with the cookware itself, we only own two pans and one small pot, so we usually fill the small pot up too much and have stuff running over and the dang pans we have are just a complete mess. I don't know where the "non-stick" part went, but it definitely left the bottom of the pan.

Alright, enough of that; happy Monday everybody!

Pens, cakes and . . . trannys?

After spending $32 on pens at Hobby Lobby and scribbling all over random paper to find which was my favorite, I successfully completed the majority of save-the-dates. It feels pretty good.

Even the guy at the post office was nice. When I took one in to find out the amount it would cost to ship and buy stamps, he informed me that beginning next Monday the price would be raising from 29 cents to 32 cents. Good timing on my part.

I would just like to take this time to thank my lovely fiancee, Logan, for being the best cheerleader ever while I did everything. Thanks, honey, it means a lot. Really though, I don't blame him, he insists that his handwriting is comparable to "chicken scratch." Although I'm not sure I'd resort to calling it that, I will agree that my OCD with making things as perfect as possible really comes in handy during times like this.

Today Logan and I got to have our cake tasting. The mother of a little girl I've been giving swim lessons to for almost three years asked if I would be interested in having her make our cake. Um, duh. Apparently it's something she enjoys doing for friends. Cool hobby. We tried a lemon cake with raspberry filling, red velvet with chocolate filling and vanilla with Nutella filling. Pretty crafty. We loved and devoured the red velvet, the lemon cake was a close second. Absolutely delicious. Plus, she let us take the rest home. Yum!

This has also been a fantastic weekend regarding non-wedding events though. I got my first paycheck and could officially afford to buy groceries AND pay off the rest of my credit card. Hooray! Maybe this means I can afford to get my "tranny changed" now. Haha. According to mechanics this is how you say "transmission fluid." I just about had a heart attack laughing when they told me this one. Yup, I think maybe now I'll look into getting my tranny changed.

Our awaited arrival of the save-the-dates

What a grand day. Our save-the-dates finally arrived and we couldn't be more thrilled! At least I couldn't be more thrilled . . . Logan seemed pretty happy, the not-showing-excitement attitude must be a boy thing. They're gorgeous though and I give all of the credit to Justin at stare media, he's pretty much a design genius.

Now comes the really awesome fun part though - addressing them. I should do what I did when I moved into my first apartment in Lawrence. I had Logan invite a bunch of friends over and unbeknownst to them, had them help me move once they arrived. Their reward? Pizza. I thought it was a good deal. Something tells me though that I wouldn't be able to get away with that this time around. A bunch of boys attempting to write legible on save-the-date address labels sounds like a horrible idea. They'd all end up on the xbox anyway. Don't worry, I'll think of a plan B.

In the meantime though I think I'll head over to the post office and get some cute stamps and maybe come up with some sort of idea as to what kind of pen/writing tool I'd like to use to address these bad boys. I have confidence though that they'll turn out great. Now get excited, one of these pieces of art is going to be ending up in your mailbox soon. Keep a lookout!
